Should parole be given to convicted murderers?

do the benefits outweigh the retribution need ?

personally i think parole should only be given to drug offenders.
Answer:
(USA)
Anyone convicted of a crime should stay in jail until the sentence is served to completion, and then should be released.

Being nice in jail has no relation to the original crime for which you were imprisoned. In every day life, people are expected to follow the rules of society and are punished for violating the rules. For some absurd reason, once you get into jail for hurting society you are considered "meets expectations" for not living by the rules of society. If you punish bad behavior in society, you should punish bad behavior in jail, rather than rewarding good behavior.
Commonwealth of Virginia, need I say more.
retribution?????
how about keeping sociopaths out of society....
convicted murderers are never rehabilitated.
The problem is a little deeper than that....You cannot offer a blanket answer to each individual case that comes up. That is what the parole board is for. They take the merits of the individual and decide if he/she is truely rehabilitated or not.
I don't think you understand parole. First there are many kinds of "murderers." Homicide has many levels. A person that kills someone because they were driving while intoxicated is a murderer by definition, but is not as bad a person like a Ted Bundy.

There are the people that murder someone out rage, i.e. the guy who kills a man who raped his daughter.

So, they have to have different levels of incarceration for these people to ensure that the worst are punished more harsh then those who are less of a threat to society.

Capital murder (or Murder 1, Murder in the First Degree, depending on where you live) Usually has levels of imprisionement or death for punishments, and often parole is not allowed.

Other offenders are allowed to be released and placed on parole. Parole is supervised released and can last a lifetime or a set period of time.

All felonies that allow a person release from prison can have parole added to them. Even if the fullfill their full prison term. If they fullfill their full prison term they simply call it Post Release Supervision (but it is the same thing as parole). If you get released early (which is done not to reward prisoners, but to elivate the costs to the state) you automatically serve the rest of time on Parole. Violent felony offenders have the longest parole requirements, while drug offenders are on the low end (usually similar to grand larceny's).

So, in short, parole is necessary, even for homicide cases.
There are so many murderers in the US it doesn't matter if you set them all free to kill as they please. Killing is an American pastime. If an American cannot get to kill legally then he can join the US military and kill with the support of America. So "killers" should never be convicted in the first place in the US. IF everyone who was a murderer in America was put in jail...there would be no one left outside to be murdered. So like you..I believe murderers should be freed to kill. It's an American right.
Everyone has the right to freedom . There are many convicted murders that are Innocent , so in the name of those who are paying a price for something didn't do, parole should be available for everyone.
Not if it was a premeditated murder, or during another felony like rape or robery.

I can't belive how criminal with long criminal records keep getting break after breake and all they do is keep killing, raping, and and hurting inocent people. Meanwhile a guy makes a mistake filling his taxes or forget to pay some traffic violations and is send to jail taking the room that should be used for the real criminals.
