Should jury selection include gang members since it IS supposed to be a trial by your peers?

Shouldnt physicians be present in the jury box when a physician is on trial?
Answer:
You know, they've tried arguing that same point with a trial involving neo-Nazi's - didn't work. I suppose you could make it nearly impossible to select a jury if you go to that level of detail.

What happens if someone on you're on trial and a jury member is missing a leg, their one good leg hurts when they look in the mirror, they like to be called skippy when they're on their inflatble canoe, BUT they have teeth? Does that disqualify them?
it would seem to be true
Just coming from Jury Duty, I believe that the attorneys look for such things as part of the jury selection (voir dire) process.
A jury of your peers is to be comprised of citizens without ties which would bias them in favor of a criminal defendent. Gang members are in some cases connected to activities which are criminal and there for not the persons the prosecution wants on the jury... in the end it's up to the lawyers who sits on the jury as they accept and decline jurors in pre-trial actions.
that's a great idea! and gangs be judged by gang judges, yeah,yeah..... I'm still upset about you posting a pic. of me without my pearly whites in!!!!!
I take it this question was asked in jest? Our system of government defines a jury of our peers as good men of good moral character. It would be a conflict of interest--and the question would be asked during jury selection-to put a physician in the jury box when a physician is on trial. A gang member most likely would not be acceptable because gang affiliation would constitute questionable moral behavior and character. So no, all that is required is that the juror be of good character.
A jury of your peers refers to citizen juries - not by profession or activity.

It means that you cannot have the jury stacked with law enforcement officers or trial judges, government officials - like that.

It doesn't mean that if you are a thug, you can have other thugs on the jury. Besides, most thugs have criminal records - and wouldn't be permitted to serve on a jury anyway.
