Should information on individuals be allowed to access?

Using data mining it is possible not only to capture informaion that has been buried in distant court houses but also to manipulate and cross-index it.This can benefit law enforcement but invade privacy. In 1996. Lexis-Nexis the information service was accused of permitting access to sesitive information on individuals.the company argued that the firm is targeted unfairly since it provided only basic residential data for lawyers and law enforcement personnel.Should Lexis-nexis be prohibited from allowing access to such information or not
Answer:
i think that the patriot act made all information public. for many years we have had people "bend the law" which was ok as long as it was in the privacy of their own home. as time goes by privacy is all but going to vanish. the best that we can do is to come together as a society and allow cultural differences to exist legally. the future will have no room for privacy.
if the info is public then it's ok but if it's not then,so be it
